Disney Launches Upscale Infant Collections The Classic Disney and Walt DisneySignature collections of upscale infant apparel and gifts were unveiled at theENK International Trade Show in New York City. Icky Baby is the key licenseefor both brands. The first line of Classic Disney products to launch is theBambi Collection, featuring gift items such as baby blankets, boxed burp clothsin tulle gift boxes, and full gift and bath sets. Items will be availablebeginning in September at Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's. In October, thecollection will expand to include infant apparel such as organic cotton Ts,dresses, and pajamas. Products will feature sketch artwork showing Bambi andfriends in scenes from the original film. The Walt Disney Signature collectionof gift, seasonal, and apparel items features sketchbook and silhouetteartwork, monograms, and vintage-print appliqués. Targeting very upscaledepartment stores, it will debut in November. Mattel to Acquire Radica Mattel will add Radica to its empire and in the process firm up its stance inthe electronics toy arena with brands such as Radica, 20Q, Play TV, and GirlTech. The $230 million deal will provide Radica shareholders with $11.55 incash for each share of Radica common stock. The transaction is subject toapproval of Radica shareholders, as well as customary regulatory approvals. Itis expected the transaction will be completed in fourth quarter 2006. New Entertainment Brand Targets 'Tweens and Teens Geffen Records and DIC Entertainment created SPG, a new entertainment brand for'tweens and teens. The cornerstone of the brand is the Slumber Party Girls, agroup of five teens who sing, dance, and act and who will be the hosts of KOL'sSecret Slumber Party on CBS, a collaboration between DIC, AOL's KOL kids' site,and CBS due September 16. The Slumber Party Girls also will serve as the "houseband" for upcoming dance competition series Dance Revolution!. The SPG brandwill launch across multiple platforms, including music, television, online, andmobile, with the subsequent rollout of a consumer products program and motionpicture release. In 2007, DIC will debut a lifestyle program for 'tweens incategories including apparel, accessories, electronics, publishing, cosmetics,novelties, and more. Scholastic Media Launches Wise Promotion Scholastic Media and Wise Foods kick off the back-to-school season with TheMagic School Bus brand on more than 600,000 packs of 25-count value packages.Consumers who purchase the value packs will receive an instant in-pack premiumalong with an on-pack $3 rebate offer and the chance to receive one of TheMagic School Bus DVDs through November 15. Users Tune In to New Programming Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., and Apple are making programming from CNN,Adult Swim, and Cartoon Network available for purchase and download on theiTunes Music Store ( ).The new content features Cartoon Network's Johnny Bravo, Adult Swim's Aqua TeenHunger Force, and original episodes of documentary series CNN Presents, allavailable for viewing on a computer or iPod. Television shows are available inthe U.S. only, and video availability varies by country. TV shows, musicvideos, and short films are $1.99 per episode. WBCP Scores with European Soccer Clubs & More Warner Bros. Consumer Products was appointed master licensee for Europeansoccer clubs FC Barcelona, Juventus FC, Manchester United, and ParisSaint-Germain for the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America, Brazil, and therest of South America. Leisure apparel and accessories, toys and games,housewares and domestics, stationery, and gifts and collectibles are on tap. Inother news, the company, on behalf of DC Comics, entered into a licensingagreement with Naki World to produce video game accessories based on SupermanReturns and the core Superman brand. WBCP also entered into a partnership withAMC Beauty to develop signature women's and men's fragrances inspired by theglamorous lifestyle of characters on TV show The O.C. The O.C. for Her and TheO.C. for Him fragrances will be available in October in .5-ounce and 1.7-ounceversions, with suggested retails at $12 and $22.50, respectively. Children's Designer Comes to Mobile World Big Tent Entertainment signed a multi-year North American licensing agreementwith Airborne Entertainment, Inc., for children's designer Lisa Revelli. Underthe agreement, Airborne will develop an array of mobile content includingscreensavers, wallpapers, and menu themes featuring children's property Gungle. EA Extends Long-Standing Relationship with PGA TOUR The PGA TOUR and Electronic Arts extended their partnership through 2012 forTiger Woods' PGA TOUR video game franchise. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR '07 isscheduled to be released in Europe in September and in the U.S. in October onXbox, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, the PC, and mobile. Paidas Management Signs On New Client Paidas Management will act as the exclusive licensing agent for "The FightingColors Collection." The collection of artwork by Gary Velasco embodies thebygone air combat spirit of World War II, when fighter and bomber crews hadtheir aircraft painted with slogans and scantily clad pinups known as "noseart." VIZ Media Gives Kids a Free Ride VIZ Media is working with BART and its partners on the Kids Ride Free Saturdaysprogram, giving kids ages 12 and under the opportunity to ride the Bay Areatransportation system all month for free. As part of the program, kids willreceive special promotional offers from the California Academy of Sciences, theOakland As, and the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. EK Success Inks Two Deals EK Success will bring Sesame Street characters and Elvis Presley to scrapbookenthusiasts via new deals with Sesame Workshop and Elvis Presley Enterprises.Headed to shelves in October, the Sesame Street line will include 3-Dpaper-based and epoxy stickers; mini T-shirt embellishments with removablehangers; and themed papers and ribbons with sliders featuring Elmo, Big Bird,Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Bert, Ernie, and Grover. The line alsoincludes some general Sesame Street-themed products. The Elvis craft line, duein November, will include scrapbooking products such as double-sided 12-inchsquare paper, as well as three-dimensional embellishments, title stickers, andmini T-shirts that capture the essence of famous Elvis songs, icons, andplaces. FUNimation Channel Launches on Verizon FiOS TV FUNimation Entertainment launched the FUNimation Channel, a 24-hour digitalnetwork on Verizon FiOS TV. The network features programming from top animebrands in the U.S., and it will be added to the FiOS TV Premier package.
