USCPG Creates New Wireless Division Universal Studios Consumer Products Group created Universal MobileEntertainment, a dedicated division focusing on the wireless world and underthe direction of Universal veteran Jeremy Laws, who was promoted to senior vicepresident. Laws will oversee all aspects of licensing and promotions in thewireless arena and will pursue and manage licenses from creation toconsumption. He will lead a team of sales executives based around the world,including major media markets such as Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo. Walt Disney Inspires New Home Furnishings Collection Drexel Heritage Furniture Industries and Disney Home are collaborating on theWalt Disney Signature Collection of home furnishings inspired by the studiooffice and living spaces of Walt Disney. The initial introduction (due in latefall) includes Walt Disney's signature desk, credenza and bookshelf, cocktailtable, two end tables, credenza for a flat-screen television, sofa with twoupholstered chairs, and an ottoman-all of which took their inspiration directlyfrom original pieces in Disney's office. The collection will extend into otherhome furnishing categories in the next 18 months. Kitson "Dolls Up" Charity Event Superman Returns soared into Kitson with a launch event featuring a silentauction, as well as a collection of apparel, accessories, and fashion dolls inconjunction with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Warner Bros. Pictures, andLegendary Pictures. In addition, the Beverly Hills retailer sponsored a charityauction of 23 sets of the new Superman Returns Superman and Lois Lane dolls oneBay using the eBay Giving Works program. The dolls (created by Mattel) eachare packed in their own boxes, which are personally signed by the respectivestar. Each box includes an official mini-poster featuring Brandon Routh asSuperman and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, and each set is accompanied by acertificate of authenticity. All proceeds from the sale of these sets are beingdonated to the Christopher Reeve Foundation. Kitson also is donating apercentage of the sales from the event to the foundation.
