Bandai America has been appointed as worldwide master toy licensee for Warner Bros. Consumer Products' ThunderCats property. Merchandise will be inspired by both the classic brand, as well as the new animated series to air on Cartoon Network in 2011.

The new "ThunderCats" series, based on the 1980s version, is in production at Warner Bros. Animation. It is executive produced by Sam Register ("Teen Titan," "Ben 10," "Batman: The Brave and the Bold") with producers Michael Jelenic ("Batman: The Brave and the Bold" and "Wonder Woman") and Ethan Spaulding ("Avatar: The Last Airbender").

"ThunderCats have been a pop culture phenomenon for the past 25 years, and Bandai America looks forward to developing modern and engaging toys for these beloved characters," says Masayuki Matsuo, chairman and chief executive officer, Bandai America. "Through the Bandai America and Warner Bros. Consumer Products partnership, die-hard devotees as well as a new generation of fans will be introduced to quality, innovative toys that will create playtime experiences capturing the adventurous spirit of the brand."

Bandai's other kids' licenses include Power Rangers, Ben 10, Harumika, Tamagotchi, Pocoyo and Teeny Little Families.
