Warner Bros. Consumer Products recently scored separate partnerships with NBA star Dwight Howard for a Superman apparel line and the Union of European Football Association for exclusive representation.

The co-branded Dwight Howard/Superman collection, along with DC Comics and Adidas, will include T-shirts, fleeces, jerseys and track jackets, as well as athletic footwear. The line will hit this holiday at sporting goods stores, stadium shops, athletic apparel and footwear stores, specialty and department stores.

“Superman is the universal symbol of strength and speed, not to mention he has one heck of a vertical leap,” says Brad Globe, president of Warner Bros. Consumer Products.  “Dwight’s super heroic feats on the court make this partnership with Adidas an ideal collaboration for basketball and comic book fans alike.”

In the exclusive representation deal with UEFA, WBCP will act as exclusive agent for UEFA Euro 2012, which takes place in Poland and Ukraine, and for all national competitions until 2013.

UEFA and WBCP partnered on previous events in 2004 and 2008 and will work in tandem on creative program developments, including mascots and art. They will oversee the selection process to recruit new licensees and official retailers for all programs and national competitions jointly.

“As industry leaders creatively and at retail, WBCP have proved invaluable partners for previous events and we look forward to building on that momentum through 2013,” says David Taylor, chief executive officer of UEFA.

Pilar Zulueta, executive vice president and general manager EMEA for WBCP says: “It is our intention to bring football fans everywhere a collection of officially licensed products that is broad, creative, compelling and innovative in all aspects. We will also look to work with licensees and official retailers that align with this vision.”

In other news, WBCP recently renewed its agreement with Rubie’s Costume Co. for its worldwide rights to DC Comics super heroes, Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, The Lord of the Rings and Hanna-Barbera characters such as Scooby-Doo. Rubie’s has worked with WBCP since 1999.
