Retail giant Walmart will cut 700 to 800 jobs at its Arkansas headquarters.

The job hits will affect the retailer's real estate, apparel, and health and wellness offices, according to Associated Press reports. The company's pharmacy, optical and in-store heath clinic will now be operated under one division and Walmart will be moving some apparel positions from the Bentonville, Ark., office to New York.

Despite the cuts, Walmart says it still plans to hire thousands of new employees for its stores and clubs this year. In 2008, the discounter opened up 166 new stores and this year plans to open no more than 140.
