VIZ Media LLC has secured the television, home video, and non-video game merchandising rights for the Americas, Europe, and Oceania to Blue Dragon from a consortium including TV Tokyo Corp. and Shueisha Inc. The new anime series is based on the Microsoft Xbox 360 role playing game, which debuted in Japan on TV Tokyo on April 7. The game already has a strong fan base in Japan and will be released in North America and Europe in August 2007. In the European market, VIZ Media will distribute and market Blue Dragon through VIZ Media Europe, S.A.R.L, its Paris-based subsidiary established in late 2006.
