Dark Horse comic Emily the Strange is expected to hit the big screen with the help of Universal Pictures, which recently acquired the film rights.

Mike Richardson, founder and president of Dark Horse Entertainment, is on board to produce. Rob Reger, Emily the Strange's creator, and Keith Goldberg, Dark Horse's senior vice president of production, will serve as executive producers. Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) has been tapped to star.

The Emily the Strange brand is licensed and distributed to 35 countries worldwide.
