In anticipation of the Despicable Me DVD release, Universal Studios Home Entertainment has launched Minion Madness, a points-based rewards system and social marketing program through January 2011.
Minion Madness offers fans the chance to earn points and participate in up to 25 sweepstakes entries each day through a variety of online (Minionmadness.com and iPhone app Minion Photo Madness) and offline (Simon Shopping Malls) activities. More than 15,000 prizes will be awarded, including weekly gift cards in $10, $20, $35 and $50 increments, as well as three grand prizes:
Lifetime, all-access passes to Universal Studios theme parks
Family trip to New York City for the 2011 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Family vacation to Los Angeles, including hotel stays and spa visits
"Despicable Me is the event release of this holiday season, which also makes it the perfect movie to engage fans on social platforms like Facebook and mobile apps," says Hilary Hoffman, executive vice president of marketing at Universal Studios Home Entertainment. "Minion Madness is designed to deliver a unique experience that is both interactive and entertaining, ensuring that audiences of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy Despicable Me in a fun and memorable way throughout the holidays."
Despicable Me hits retailers on Dec. 14 as a Blu-ray combo pack, Blu-ray 3-D combo pack, DVD double pack, single DVD and digital download.
