Marvel’s Avengers Assemble (released domestically as The Avengers) has already had a significant positive effect at retail, Disney Consumer Products has reported, with retailers across the U.K. expressing their delight at the early strong performance of the film.
“Avengers has started strongly for us, breathing new life into the action figures market. We look forward to seeing this continue throughout the rest of the season,” says Phil Markham, buying manager, Tesco.
“We’re really pleased with initial sales,” says Andrea Abbis, trading manager, toys, nursery, kids and baby, Argos. “Avengers is already one of our top performing boy’s toy ranges.”
The Facebook game “Marvel: Avengers Alliance” now attracts more than 1.2 million daily users.
Marvel's Avengers Assemble led at box offices all over the world this weekend, making it the top-grossing film worldwide for 2012. In the U.K. Marvel’s Avengers Assemble has already grossed more than then entire runs of superhero predecessors Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Spiderman 2. The Avengers Assemble experience will continue throughout the summer with a new animated series, “The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes,” set to debut on Disney XD; new additions to the range of existing products available; and new content for the Facebook game. Shooting for Marvel Studio’s next film, Iron Man 3, begins this month in the U.S.
