Retail sales rose 1.2 percent on a like-for-like basis last month, the British Retail Consortium has announced. It's the fastest pace since March, thanks partly to sunny weather late in the month.
In addition, the World Cup boosted sales of televisions and DIY, and leisure sales did well in the bright weather. Total sales, which include the effect of increased floor space from new store openings, were up 3.4 percent on last year, again the best result since March.
