Turner CN Enterprises has announced multiple licensing deals in Central and Eastern Europe across several categories including food, back-to-school, stationary, apparel and gift.
Bakugan, which is enjoying a strong following on both free TV and pay TV as well as online, is continuing on Cartoon Network with a new series, Mechtanium Surge, which began airing in February in C&EE and Russia. Following the January toy launch of Gundalian Invaders in Russia, TCNE has revealed Mechtanium Surge toys will launch in August and September. TCNE says that Karton P+P has also committed to the Bakugan brand for back-to-school products in the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
Ben 10 is also gaining a foothold in the Czech Republic and Slovenia with EP Line SA signing for stationary, Ing. Jiří Soural–The Drinks for a line of carbonated soft drinks and Cartoon Mania for Ben 10 branded apparel. TCNE also signed Vivat Trading for stationary and paper goods in the Ukraine.
For girls properties, which TCNE has recently diversified into as a third party licensing agent, Tekma has been signed for Puppy in my Pocket gifts in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzgovinia. Additionally, TCNE has signed B&S Polska to its girls’ collectible brand, Zoobles, for back-to-school products in Poland, and Egmont International Holding A/S has the publishing rights to Zoobles in C&EE, Russia and CIS.
Maria Rosaria Milone, senior commercial director consumer products, packaged and themed entertainment, says, “This is a really exciting time for the licensing industry in Russia and C&EE as retailers are beginning to invest in licensing projects and Turner’s brands continue to gain traction in the market.”
Turner CN will exhibit its full portfolio of brands at Licensing@Russia, being held this week at Moscow’s Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre, March 14-16. Boys properties include Ben 10, Bakuagan and Redakai and girls properties Zoobles and Puppy in my Pocket, along with the recently acquired pre-school brand LazyTown, coming soon to C&EE.
