The 4,000-square-foot shops began opening this past June and will continue to open through early November. Approximately half of the 600 planned locations have opened. The initiative will generate 10,000 jobs nationwide. TRU plans to look for opportunities to keep the stores open after the holiday season as the company did last year. This summer, eight express stores from the 2009 holiday season were transitioned into permanent TRU Outlet stores.

Meanwhile, Babies"R"Us stores also plan to offer a wider selection of toys for the holidays. The in-store toy shops will feature popular characters from Toy Story 3, Cars, Sesame Street and Thomas the Tank Engine.
