The North London Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur has appointed Australasian licensing agency Velocity Brand Management to extend its brand in Australia and New Zealand.

Tottenham Hotspur already boasts an estimated 2 million followers in the region, with established supporters clubs in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and the Gold Coast. Last year the club launched football development programs in Perth and Dunsborough, and plans to add more programs this year.

VBM has already signed the club’s first new licensee in the region with ISC signed on for leisurewear.

“As a club, we’re always looking to take Tottenham Hotspur into new and exciting areas of retail,” says Gary Jacobson, brand licensing manager, Tottenham Hotspur. “VBM has an extensive network of contacts across Australasia and can help us understand retail trends and consumer habits within the region. Over the course of the next three years, we aim to build close relationships with new licensees that are keen to leverage the brand and global fan base of a leading Premier League football club on the continent.”

Tottenham Hotspur currently has more than 40 licensees worldwide for apparel, toys, gifts and digital media. Among these are Forever Collectables for headwear, accessories and gifts in the U.S.; Cole & Son for Spurs-themed wallpaper; Character Options for player and stadium figures; and Arena for the micro-site SpursPics.co.uk, which features iconic club imagery on a range of merchandise.
