Brand Licensing Europe, the Advanstar-organized exhibition, has announced that 40 buying professionals from Avon, Boots, John Lewis, Mothercare, Sainsbury's and Tesco have confirmed their participation in the 2012 Retail Mentoring Programme. The Programme has tripled since its launch three years ago.
Brand Licensing Europe’s Retail Mentoring Programme is funded and organized by Advanstar and is the only one of its kind. It is designed to nurture retail talent in the licensing industry, helping retail professionals to understand its complexities.
Over the next six months, the buying professionals take part in workshops and seminars, including attending the LIMA Licensing Essentials Course and Spring Fling (May 17), in partnership with LIMA U.K. Mentees also have the chance to shadow licensors in their offices, with final culmination at Brand Licensing Europe, October 16-18 in London.
"We are delighted to be able to take part in the Retail Mentoring Programme, it's a great opportunity for our people to get to grips with the licensing industry, and give them confidence in such a huge marketplace about which licenses to choose," says Steven Bradley, buying manager, toys and nursery, Boots.
“The Retail Mentoring Programme has been well received since its inception in 2010, and we are thrilled to see it grow so quickly over such a short time,” says Jessica Blue, show director, Brand Licensing Europe. “Last year we also saw an impressive 22 percent increase in retail attendance to the show, and it's great to see retailers sending more of their buyers to take part in the Programme. Not only does it benefit retailers, but is also very positive for our exhibitors and for the industry as a whole."
