Garfield is well known in the region through its publishing programme and for its popular use in large-scale retail promotions. In a successful ‘buy and collect’ scheme run by Tesco Poland, for example, consumers collected chapters to make their own Garfield book.
Garfield brand manager, Petra Sedlinger from Plus Licens, tells License Global why the Garfield brand is popular here: “It started with syndication in the newspapers and has expanded steadily from this heritage. Garfield is funny and adaptable to licensing and promotions – it’s an evergreen in the region.”
