ITV Global Entertainment has signed U.K. broadcast deals with the Sci Fi Channel and BBC Two for the cult family animation "Thunderbirds." The deal includes new content for BBC Two and launches consumer product opportunities for international licensees for 2009.

Sci Fi Channel, the U.K.'s only dedicated science fiction and fantasy broadcaster, has renewed its agreement for the 32x1 hour Gerry Anderson produced series, which follows the adventures of International Rescue led by Jeff Tracy. This significant deal also includes two further series created by Gerry Anderson: "Joe 90" and "Stingray." The series will broadcast from spring 2009 as part of the network's primetime line-up, alongside a schedule of cult shows including "Star Trek," "Heroes" and "Angel."

BBC Two will air "Stingray-The Reunion Party" later this month. Co-produced by ITV Global Entertainment with the BBC, this new compilation episode has been assembled with the assistance of Gerry Anderson, drawing on recently discovered material. It will be followed by the 60-minute documentary "All About Thunderbirds," also co-produced by ITV Global Entertainment with the BBC.

The evening will culminate in the broadcast of one of the most popular "Thunderbirds" episodes, "Attack of the Alligators," repeated again on New Years Day 2009.

"'Thunderbirds' has been entertaining the world for decades, and the trusted brand continues to deliver new and dedicated fans to all it touches, including consumer products—which currently feature fashion, toys, blu-ray DVD and gaming," says Giles Ridge, head of brand and product development at ITV Global Entertainment. "We're looking forward to developing new and exciting licensing partnerships with Thunderbirds for 2009."
