Tesco and Amber Entertainment have teamed up to create exclusive DVD films based on works by best-selling authors. "Paris Connections" is the first title, produced with author Jackie Collins and released this week exclusively at Tesco stores.
"Through this partnership we will be able to offer our customers an exclusive window to own a first-run film from a range of well-known authors," says says Rob Salter, Tesco's entertainment director. "Home entertainment is a big opportunity for Tesco both in store and online. We are working hard to develop ourselves as a multi-channel retailer, giving customers the option to buy in store, online or through our catalog. Partnerships such as this enable us to offer customers even more than a standard entertainment retailer."
The films will be initially available exclusively as DVDs through Tesco stores, online and Tesco Direct.
In addition to three more planned films in the "Connections" series to be produced with Jackie Collins, Amber is also negotiating for the works of other authors for Tesco releases this year and next, including Philip Pullman, Judy Blume, Dick and Felix Francis, Karin Slaughter, Jacqueline Wilson and Anne Perry.
