Archie Comic Publications has scooped up a number of publishing partners, according to agent Surge Licensing. Archie will celebrate 70 years in 2011.

The latest licensees include:

  • Random House for graphic novels (Q4, bookstores and mass market retailers worldwide)

    • IDW Publishing for a series of hardcover "Art of... " books and a hard and soft cover archival collection (Q4, bookstores worldwide)

      • Dark Horse for a hard and soft cover archival collection (Q4, bookstores worldwide), as well as limited-edition character busts (August, comic book shops worldwide)

        • Asgard Press for calendars, posters and journals (Q4, bookstores and organic supermarkets in the U.S.)

          Meanwhile, Surge has also signed Hybrid Apparel in the U.S. and J Corp in Canada for T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, sleepwear and headwear, featuring Archie, Betty and Veronica, Josie & The Pussycats and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The apparel lines will hit all retail tiers in the fourth quarter.

          Surge Licensing also represents Palladium Books, publisher of the Rifts series of role-playing games. Currently, the Rifts is in film development through Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Surge is also the producer and licensor of Versus' series "The Best & Worst of Tred Barta."
