Square Licensing has expanded into the U.S., with a new office in Redmond, Wash.

The company, which is a subsidiary of global licensing agency 2dream, is headquartered in the U.K. with a satellite office in France.

Kyoko Yoshida will head up the U.S. operation as vice president of licensing and merchandising. Yoshida was formerly brand manager at Nintendo of America, where she handled brands like Pokemon, Super Mario and the Legend of Zelda.

“We are delighted to have recruited a highly experience licensing executive of Kyoko’s calibre, and we look forward to both acquiring new brands and to developing our existing portfolio in the USA,” says Armelle Madelin, director, Square Licensing.

2dream launched Square Licensing in December 2011 to focus on the Luv Me Buddies brand.
