Spellbound Entertainment signed new broadcast and licensing deals in Spain for its pre-school series, “The Koala Brothers.” All deals were brokered by Imira Entertainment, Spellbound’s licensing agent for the Spanish market.

New Koala Brothers deals include appointing Bizak toy licensee for Spain, and adding Enri for back-to-school bags and backpacks. Products will launch this summer, with a full rollout in next year.

Planeta Junior acquired the publishing rights for novelty, coloring and activity books; and Big Picture Entertainment has home entertainment rights for series in Spain. Cartoon Network in Spain recently picked up all 39 episodes of “The Koala Brothers,” which is also shown on state broadcaster TVE.

"We are delighted to have such a strong toy partner like Bizak working with us in Spain,” says Peter Curtis, joint managing director of Spellbound. “It is great to be teaming up with such a strong line-up of partners and we look forward to building a successful business in Spain with Imira Entertainment."

The Koala Brothers was commissioned by the BBC in the U.K. It has now been acquired by 50 broadcasters covering 155 territories including Disney Channel in the U.S.; RTP and Canal Panda in Portugal; and ABC in Australia. Recent broadcast deals include TVNZ in New Zealand, RTL Telekids in Holland and VTM Kazoom in Begium.
