The Smiley Company has unveiled a 100 percent non-profit, fair trade project with La Compagnie du Commerce Equitable, a subsidiary of the charity Groupe SOS and sister association to The Smiley World Association, the Smiley Company's charity.

A range of fair trade products, including stationery, bags, jewelry and homewares, have been created for the Smiley brand, which LCCE will sell in their France-based retail store Altermundi, as well as hundreds of other stores. Money will go to support local communities of producers, as well as help fund the reinsertion programmers LCCE operates in France.

"More than six different product ranges are being produced and made by local communities and are backed and supported by the Smiley World Association," says Nicolas Loufrani, chief executive officer of The Smiley Company. "Not a single euro of sales from this project will go in our pocket, but will all be reinvested in Europe or the Third World to support a different way of doing business, one that

thinks about the human first."
