Simon and Schuster Children’s Books announced a deal to publish the Smurfs movie tie-in book series this summer, as well as classic Smurfs titles later in the year. The books will be published in July, ahead of the movie release in August.

Simon and Schuster acquired U.K. and Commonwealth rights (excluding ANZ and Canada) for four movie tie-in titles from IMPS, via TLC. The series of books includes a movie novelization, two picture books and a Ready to Read title.

Ingrid Selberg, publishing director at Simon and Schuster U.K., says: “We’re delighted to be publishing such a longstanding brand in the Smurfs, who are sure to become a hit with families everywhere this summer. With the combination of our movie tie-in and classic titles we hope to bring these beloved characters to a new generation of Smurfs fans.”
