David Friedman was appointed to senior vice president of marketing at Sears Holdings, effective Sept. 13. Meanwhile, the retailer recently revamped its online footwear offering.

Previously, Friedman served as president for the Americas at Razorfish, an interactive marketing and technology company. He also worked at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as an associate partner working with retail and consumer products companies.

"David brings to our company a proven track record of assisting numerous retail and consumer organizations in building strong brands through focused digital, online and in-store customer experiences, " says Bruce Johnson, interim chief executive officer and president of Sears Holdings. "Under his leadership, Sears Holdings will have the opportunity to enhance marketing efforts for engagement programs that give customers more reasons to shop with us every day, such as Shop Your Way Rewards (including the What Would You Do With One Billion Points? video contest), layaway and Sears Chef Challenge."

In other related news, Sears.com has expanded its online footwear destination. The e-commerce site (Sears.com/shoes) now offers more than 450 brands and four distinct categories—fashion, kids, fitness and work. Other features include an item scroll bar with hot new items, educational videos, style expert blogs and a personal shoe shopper program.
