Scholastic U.K. is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Horrible Histories book series with new publishing activity and licensing partners.

Since 1993, the irreverent book series has brought history to life for kids with books like Awesome Egyptians and Vile Victorians. Now 20 years later, the series will see new titles, e-book and audio book releases as well as a slew of licensing activity.

The first new titles– Awful Egyptians, Measly Middle Ages, Rotten Romans and Terrifying Tudors–are set to hit shelves next month with additional books planned for September.

Two special editions will also be released: The Beastly Best Best Bits a compilation volume of the past 20 years of Horrible Histories and Deadly Days in History, a whirlwind tour through history.

Licensing activity will include a fifth season of the BBC TV show “Horrible Histories,” Horrible Histories magazine from Immediate Media, toys from Worlds Apart, stationery and gifts from Elgate and several live events including a national theater tour from Birmingham Stage Company, a Spies exhibition at the Imperial War Museum and Foul Fayres at Warwick Castle.
