“Janet’s breadth of experience has contributed significantly to the success of Sanrio’s global licensing programs, and to the success of the company as a whole,” says Kunihiko Tsuji, chairman, Sanrio. “As COO, Janet will help broaden our current and future business ventures.”

Hsu joined Sanrio in 2008. Under her leadership, Sanrio has seen “growth including an increase in year-over-year comp sales, heightened consumer accessibility and an upsurge in profits, particularly in the U.S.” Hsu established key relationships for Sanrio with partners such as Sephora, Vans, Yogurtland and Forever 21.

“The foundation of Sanrio’s strength and appeal lies within its small gift, big smile philosophy,” says Hsu. “As our brands continue to grow and reach new consumer segments, our strategy will remain as connected to this original message of delivering happiness and positive experiences in everything we do. We will foster new opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships that will continue to surprise

and delight fans of all ages.”

Hsu will be based in the Torrance, Calif. office.
