MarVista Entertainment finalized an agreement for the new “Power Rangers Samurai” to be licensed to Canada’s Corus Entertainment and Teletoon Canada. Cable television rights to select classic Power Rangers episodes also were acquired by Teletoon Canada its cartoon channels, Teletoon Retro English and Teletoon Retro French.

The half-hour series is scheduled to premiere on Nickelodeon in Canada Feb. 11, and on Teletoon’s French service later this spring. The U.S. prime-time premiere on Nickelodeon is scheduled for Feb. 7.

“A new generation of children around the world will soon be introduced to the legendary Power Rangers brand,” says Fernando Szew, chief executive officer of MarVista Entertainment. “The new series, Power Rangers Samurai, brings all the elements that made the original a global phenomenon—a combination of comedy and high-octane action, martial arts and special effects—and we look forward to working with Corus, Teletoon and our other international partners to make this season the most successful ever.”
