U.K. indie Rocket Licensing will represent "Princess Pearl," a new series of books from Emma Thomson, the author of "Felicity Wishes."

Princess Pearl is the heroine of six storybooks to be published by Hodder Children's Books in fall 2011 and a range of greeting cards from Woodmansterne.

The Princess Pearl stories are an inspirational series of magical adventures, with a different lesson, forming the central theme of each book. Licensing potential exists across its core audience of girls ages 2 to 7, women ages 18 to 40 and gift buyers of all ages.

"We are thrilled to be licensing this charming and delightful new character from one of the top authors and illustrators in her field," says Rob Wijeratna, joint managing director of Rocket Licensing. "The potential of Princess Pearl at retail is clearly enormous, as the successful launch and early completion of two key deals makes clear. We're looking forward to enormous interest not only from the recent launch but at BLE and well beyond."

Thomson has illustrated 130-plus books that have sold more than 8 million copies and are read in more than 22 languages. Her Felicity Wishes has delivered £100 million ($156 million) at retail in the U.K. alone.
