Rocket, which represents the property in Europe on behalf of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, hopes to increase brand awareness across the region in the coming year.

Licensees Watermelon and Manhattan Toys both plan to follow up 2012 successes with new product this year, Watermelon in the apparel category and Manhattan Toys for baby accessories.

New apparel lines are also coming down the pike, including Cat in the Hat t-shirts from Blues Clothing and a dress-up range from VMC.

1.2 million Dr. Seuss books and a wide range of Dr. Seuss activity packs will be distributed through a promotion with Emirates Airlines, which began last October and will continue through June. Meanwhile, British bookseller Waterstones is planning to add Dr. Seuss-themed décor for store re-fits throughout the year.

“The high level of awareness and affection that adults and children

have for this timeless, always on-trend character makes him ideal for a wide range of categories,” says Charlie Donaldson, joint managing director, Rocket Licensing. “2013 promises to be a very busy year for The Cat in the Hat, for Dr. Seuss Enterprises and for Rocket.”
