Ape Entertainment will reinvent the classic cartoon and comic book character Richie Rich for a modern-day audience in a comic series that will portray the world’s richest kid as a globetrotting adventurer using his limitless wealth for good.
Published under the company’s all-ages imprint, KiZoic, Richie Rich will reach stores in early 2011.
“What we’re hoping to do with the property now is update it with a contemporary spin and bring even more action and intrigue to the original stories we all grew up on,” says Ape Entertainment founder and co-publisher Brent E. Erwin.
Richie Rich made his comic book debut in 1953 and expanded to a syndicated comic strip and animated TV series. Richie Rich was also the star of a live-action feature film and direct-to-video sequel from Warner Bros. Pictures in 1994.
