Peanuts Heads to the Big Screen

Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios have acquired the rights to make a feature film based on the Peanuts franchise after two years of discussions about the film’s creative direction between the studios and members of Peanuts creator

The as-yet-untitled animated movie will be released on Nov. 25, 2015, to mark the 65th anniversary of the

Peanuts

comic strip and the 50th anniversary of the television special, “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

“We finally felt the time was right and the technology is where we need it to be to create this film,” says Craig Schulz, president, Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates. “I am thrilled we will be partnering with Blue Sky/Fox to create a Peanuts movie that is true to the strip and will continue the legacy in honor of my father."

Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates and Iconix Brand Group formed Peanuts Worldwide in a joint venture in 2010, which owns the rights to the Peanuts property.
