The Salariya Book Company has partnered with Ignition Licensing to license the Old Bear brand by Jane Hissey. First published in 1986, Old Bear is being re-published by the Scribblers imprint of children’s publisher Salariya, based in the U.K.

Ignition Licensing has been appointed as licensing agency partner for Old Bear.

“I have always loved the Old Bear illustrations and storylines and think it is perfect timing to re-publish this well-loved and trusted series by the talented artist Jane Hissey,” says Maggy Harris, licensing director, Ignition. “Old Bear is a classic children’s book property with proven consumer recognition and a strong creative identity.”

Between 1986 and 2002 the Old Bear books sold more 7 million copies worldwide and spawned a successful licensing program and BAFTA-award winning TV series. New editions of three of the original books–“Old Bear,” “Old Bear Stories” and “Little Bear’s Trousers”–will be published this year, with additional titles planned for release in spring 2013.
