Nickelodeon is working on a new animated television series from the creators of "Avatar: The Last Airbender," called "The Legend of Korra."
Set to debut in 2011 on the channel, "The Legend of Korra" was created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The original series takes place 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender and features a teen girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra.
"Mike and Bryan have imagined a compelling new story inspired by the Airbender mythology that they so brilliantly crafted when the TV series began," says Brown Johnson, president of animation for Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group. "This new avatar is not only a girl, but also hot-headed, independent and ready to take on the world."
