IDW Publishing and Nickelodeon have published a reboot of the debut issue from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic series. “Heroes in a Half Shell” is now available in comic stores throughout North America.

IDW and Nickelodeon have a long-term commitment to revitalize the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, including comics and graphic novels. The publications support Nickelodeon's new CG-animated TV series based on the Turtles franchise, which premieres next year.

Led by creator Kevin Eastman and co-writer Tom Waltz, the original series comics will feature new artwork from Dan Duncan, Sam Kieth, Walter Simonson and Fred Hembeck. Eastman will also provide layouts for Duncan's art, as well as variant covers. The series will feature new and exciting storylines.

In addition, IDW will also offer "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Collection." Beginning in October with volume one, the series will include 300 pages of the best of the Turtles’ underground roots, including Mirage Studio’s issues one through seven.
