Nickelodeon received two 2001 George Foster Peabody Awards for its Nick Jr. preschool television shows, Blue's Clues and Little Bill. Two of 34 award recipients this year, Blue's Clues and Little Bill are the only children's programs to be honored. This is the first time Nickelodeon received two Peabody awards in a year and the first time the network garnered a Peabody for non-public affairs programming (it previously won for Nick News and the pro-social initiative, The Big Help.)image1_36.jpg

Award winners were chosen from more than 1,100 entries. The Peabody's National Advisory Board recognized Blue's Clues as a "play-along, think-along animated series for preschoolers that continues year in and out to respect its special audience." Little Bill was honored as a "wonderful children's program demonstrating that television can be quiet, gentle, and caring at every moment, with any subject, for all people."
