Merchantwise has signed an agreement with King Features Syndicate to represent the company's brands in Australia and New Zealand, a market that has tremendous growth potential for the company.

The brand licensing agency based in Melbourne will develop licensing and merchandising programs for the Betty Boop and Popeye properties.

"Popeye and Betty Boop are two of the most powerful licensed cartoon brands in the world," says Alex Ishchenko, Merchantwise director. "We want to ensure that the merchandising programs we create are not only relevant to the unique character of the Asia Pacific marketplace, but also true to the identity of each of these characters so that they remain fresh and vital through new and innovative products and services."

"We are delighted to be working with Merchantwise," says Cathleen Titus, vice president of International Licensing for King Features.  "Their marketing and creative teams bring a wealth of experience and have a truly unparalleled knowledge of the market.

Australia and New Zealand offer great growth potential for the licensing business and we are confident that the company will create well-rounded programs that faithfully represent our properties."
