The new animated series, Marvel’s “Ultimate Spider-Man” swung to the top of the ratings list on Disney XD U.K., a reaction that bodes well for the launch of the channel’s Marvel Universe programming block, set to air every Friday beginning this week.

“Ultimate Spider-Man” pulled in 1.2 million viewers in its first six weeks on Disney XD U.K., making it the top-rated animated title on the channel. The series has boosted year-on-year Disney XD U.K. ratings for its timeslot by 77 percent.

“The success of ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ demonstrates the demand for Marvel content from a new generation,” says Boel Ferguson, general manager, Disney Channels U.K. and Ireland. “Following the incredible success of Marvel’s Avengers Assemble in theatres across the U.K. we wanted to give our viewers a go-to TV destination for more excitement and energy of the latest Marvel series like ‘Ultimate Spider-Man.’”

Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk will join Spider-Man this Friday on the new Marvel-dedicated, Friday afternoon block, Marvel Universe. In addition to “Ultimate Spider-Man” the block will include “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” and “Iron Man: Armored Adventures.”
