Marathon Media has been tapped by Crawford Productions and Protocol Entertainment to represent girls' property The Saddle Club in Europe.

The newly appointed agent plans to extend the reach of the brand into categories such as magazines, comic books, partworks, audio CDs, stationery and back-to-school, apparel, riding accessories, gifts, toys, plush and others.

Upcoming merchandise releases for The Saddle Club in France include activity books by Bayard Publishing, a third album release with Polydor (Christmas 2009), as well as textile and back-to-school items to launch in the next six months. Current deals in the country include Happy Meals with McDonald's and a first comic book album through Delcourt.

"The series has shown such an amazing potential," says Patricia de Wilde, director of licensing at Marathon Media. "Horse riding has emerged in the last three years as the best untapped licensing niche. We are confident that we can extend this universal concept throughout Europe in the coming years."

The Saddle Club is based on the book series written by Bonnie Bryant. Season 3 of the television show recently launched in France on Gulli. The series currently airs in more than 50 territories, including PBS in the U.S., TVO in Canada, 9/Win Network in Australia, Rai-Disney Channel in Italy, Barnkanalen in Sweden, NRK Super in Norway and Disney Channel in Spain and Portugal, among others.

Marathon Media also represents Totally Spies! and Gormiti.
