A first-time seminar and reception, "The $70 Billion Intersection of Fashion and Licensing-Are You Getting Your Share?," was held this week during MAGIC trade show in Las Vegas.
Keynote speaker Marshal Cohen, chief industry analyst for research company NPD Group, discussed key consumer trends and the importance of brand development and brand extensions in today's marketplace.
A panel of brand licensing experts answered various questions about licensing and the potential growth opportunities as well as global expansion through licensing into countries such as Brazil and China.
Panelists included Steve Russo, president of FAB Starpoint; Kirk Bloomgarden, senior vice president of international licensing, Saban Brands; and Christopher Wicks, designer and creator of English Laundry.
MAGIC's parent company, Advanstar, also produces Licensing International Expo, which will be held June 12-14 in Las Vegas.
