Marvel Entertainment has appointed Jeph Loeb to head a newly created television development division as executive vice president.

Along with Dan Buckley, publisher and president of the print, animation and digital divisions for Marvel Worldwide, Loeb will develop live-action and animation formats for television inspired by Marvel's characters and storylines. He will also be responsible for distribution, including direct-to-DVD series.

Loeb was the writer behind such comic books as "Batman: The Long Halloween," "Spider-Man: Blue" and "Hulk." He has also worked on television series, including "Lost," "Heroes" and "Smallville," as well as films

Teen Wolf.
