iOS development studio and publisher Lima Sky has named Eric Karp as chief licensing officer. With this new addition, Lima Sky has announced it is now ready to begin licensing its “Doodle Jump” app, a process that Karp will oversee in collaboration with agent FremantleMedia Enterprises.
“There have been endless opportunities to license ‘Doodle Jump;’ however, we held back because of concerns about uneven product quality,” says Igor Pusenjak, founder, Lima Sky. “With the right curators now in place, I can’t wait to show the world the amazing new ‘Doodle Jump’ products.”
Karp is a veteran of film, TV, publishing and new media consumer products. In the last two decades, he has held senior posts at Chorion, MGM and Fox Family. Most recently he established the Western Hemisphere presence for Mind Candy, owners of Moshi Monsters.
“It’s no secret that ‘Doodle Jump’ is the last untouched powerhouse brand that has emerged from the world of smartphone gaming and apps,” says Karp. “Three straight years at the top of the charts and over 40 million downloads is the result of a carefully developed content strategy. It’s crucial that ‘Doodle’ and company find their way into the real world in the right way.”
And that exactly what Karp plans to do. In his new role, he will work directly with Pusenjak to develop a creative and cohesive ecosystem of products around Lima Sky’s properties, beginning with Doodle Sky.
