Only two weeks remain to enter the Brand Licensing Europe License This! challenge, a competition that offers new creative concepts the opportunity to break into the global licensing industry.
License This! is open to any new artwork, brand or character that has no existing or pending merchandising deals.
The competition will culminate at Brand Licensing Europe (taking place Oct. 16-18 in London) where the four finalists will pitch their brand to a panel of expert judges in front of a live audience. The winner will receive a fully furnished stand at Brand Licensing Europe 2013, in order to bring their brand to market next year.
The judging panel for this year’s competition is led by Richard Hollis, licensing sales director, consumer products, BBC Worldwide. Hollis is joined on the panel by Helen Howells, joint managing director, Hoho Entertainment; Jay Young, vice president, creative, Warner Bros. Consumer Products EMEA; and Warren Traeger, licensing manager, London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games.
Past winners and finalists have gone on to launch successful licensing programs; 2010 winner, animaru, is currently working with Optipak for a line of optical products, Sunday Studio (Ruckjack) and Hedge Betty for apparel lines and The Binary Box for children's wall stickers.
“Winning the competition opened many doors for us,” says last year’s winner Sarah Watts of Two Little Boys. “I would urge anyone with a new concept to enter the competition and see what it can do for you.”
Property creators or owners can enter the License This! competition by submitting an entry form at www.brandlicensing.eu before Sept. 14.
