Now in its third year, the License! This competition has already launched several new brands into the marketplace and is looking for its next big winner. The deadline to enter the 2012 competition is this Friday.
The competition, part of Brand Licensing Europe, is open to any new artwork, brand or character that has no merchandising deals already in place or pending. A panel of judges composed of major players in the industry from BBC Worldwide, Warner Bros. and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games will pick four finalists from the entries received online. Those finalists will then have the chance to pitch their property in front of a live audience during this year’s Brand Licensing Europe, taking place Oct. 16-18 in London.
The winner of the License! This competition will receive a fully furnished stand at BLE 2013 so their property can be brought to market next year.
Past winners and finalists have gone on to sign a slew of licensing deals, including 2010 winner Animaru, which already has deals with Optipak for optical products, Sunday Studio (Ruckjack) and Hedge Betty for apparel lines and The Binary Box for children's wall stickers.
