Canadian retailer Hudson's Bay Company has entered into a direct-to-retail deal with MG Icon, the joint venture between Madonna and Iconix Brand Group, to bring juniors' brand Material Girl in stores. The deal sees Canada as the first country outside of the U.S. to carry the brand, which is currently available exclusively at Macy's.
Initial offerings will begin hitting 91 Bay stores for the holiday. The complete collection will include tops, dresses, jackets, denim, shorts, footwear and handbags for spring 2011.
"The creation and launch of the Material Girl brand was a success in the U.S. and we are thrilled to expand into Canada," says Lanie List, chief merchandising officer for Iconix. "HBC is the premier retailer in Canada and we are pleased to partner with them on this exciting expansion endeavor. This is the first in a series of new partnerships we plan on announcing for MG Icon properties."
