As part of a new relationship with ESPN, Team Hot Wheels will take the stage at the X Games this year, set to take place June 28 through July 1 in Los Angeles, Calif.
On June 30, two pairs of Team Hot Wheels drivers will simultaneously race through a six-story vertical loop in the Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare. The real-life track is modeled after the new Hot Wheels Double Dare Snare track set, now available globally at retail.
"The Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare is a great addition to the X Games experience and brings to life what so many kids dreamt about over the years while playing with their Hot Wheels cars," says Tim Reed, senior director, content strategy, ESPN. "We're excited about our relationship with Hot Wheels and adding this entertainment spectacle to an exciting four days of world-class action sports competition."
The special Hot Wheels event will be broadcast nationally on ABC and globally on ESPN.
"We continue to push the boundaries of imagination by creating extraordinary real-world challenges that bring Hot Wheels to life, exemplifying the fearless and competitive spirit of the brand," says Simon Waldron, vice president marketing, wheels, Mattel.
Team Hot Wheels is a real-life group of professional stunt drivers. Later this year Hot Wheels will launch 19, live-action webisodes featuring the team on HotWheels.com where boys will be able to follow their favorite Team Hot Wheels drivers attempt outrageous stunts at the Hot Wheels Test Facility.
