Hit Entertainment has acquired the rights to develop "Diary of a Worm," "Diary of a Fly" and "Diary of a Spider," the best-selling books by author Doreen Cronin and illustrator Harry Bliss, into an animated TV series.

"We are delighted to option Doreen Cronin's Diary of a Worm series," said Karen Barnes, executive vice president of development and production at Hit Entertainment.  "The best-selling books have captured children's imaginations and teach science concepts with humor and simple sophistication."

The series will target 3-5 year-olds and follow the adventures of the characters of Worm, Spider and Fly from a child's point of view.  A coordinating curriculum focused on earth science will be developed alongside the series. Author Cronin and Illustrator Bliss will serve as consultants to the show.

The popular books are quickly gaining momentum and have recently been developed into a stage show by the Oregon Children's Theatre.  The company will present the show in Oregon and continue

to tour the U.S.
