Hasbro has signed a deal with independent production and finance company Emmett/Furla Films to make three movies based on its toy properties in the next two years.

The first film will be inspired by the Monopoly board game and is slated to begin production in 2013. While not included in the official announcement, Emmett/Furla confirmed to the LA Times that the other two films would be based on the toy property Action Man and the board game Hungry Hungry Hippos.

Under the new creative partnership, Emmett/Furla will finance the films and co-produce them with Hasbro.

“We are thrilled to be working with Hasbro. Their iconic brands have translated into great entertainment enjoyed by audiences of all ages worldwide,” says Randall Emmett, co-founder, Emmett/Furla. “We look forward to a very successful partnership and to bringing Monopoly to the big screen.”

In the last six years, Hasbro has had great success turning its top properties into movies, most notably with the Transformers and G.I. Joe films.
