The Harry Potter films were already the highest-grossing franchise of all time, a global record attained after the release of the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, in 2009.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 earned $640.2 million worldwide in its first week, $214.9 million domestically and $425.3 million at the international box office.

This year's receipts have contributed to Warner Bros. Pictures’ earning combined domestic box office of more than $1 billion for an eleventh consecutive year, an industry record.
