Ahead of the second season of its TV series "Glee," Twentieth Century Fox Television has secured the first licensing partnerships for the brand in the U.K.

"With such a strong and devoted following already, it's paramount that Glee product embodies the key attributes of the show—music, dance, self expression and comedy," says Carl Lumbard, senior vice president and managing director of Fox Consumer Products Europe. "With this in mind, we have collaborated with show creator Ryan Murphy on a creative approach to products, the first of which will be delivered into retail across the U.K. and Eire for the autumn."

Apparel leads the licensing program with U.K. company Smith & Brooks launching casualwear aimed at girls ages 12 and up. BCI International will launch a nightwear and loungewear collection, alongside sock partner Roy Lowes. A wider range of apparel lines will continue to roll out throughout 2011. Glee apparel will use bold, stylized designs to reflect the fun aspects of the show. Product will launch in September to coincide with music and DVD releases and then the program will extend into additional categories including video games, accessories, health and beauty, books and gifts. Home décor, food and Glee promotions will be introduced through 2011 and beyond.

Fox Consumer Products has partnered with Konami Digital Entertainment to bring Karaoke Revolution Glee to Nintendo Wii this autumn. For social expressions, U.K. poster company GB Eye will produce a Glee-inspired range of postcards, posters, badges and tattoo lines. Danilo has the rights for calendars and diaries. A collection of college stationery and bags from Pyramid International will be ready for retail in the autumn, while U.K. Greetings will be developing a range of innovative greeting cards, gift wrap and gift bags. Other key U.K. deals include a series of Glee novels and an official Glee annual from Headline Publishing Group.

Accessories for mobiles and PCs will be launched by PMD, as well as gift lines from BB Designs, including mugs, cushions, lamps and photo frames. Health and beauty partner FB Beauty has developed a wide range of cosmetics, toiletries and beauty accessories. Character World has signed a deal for Glee bedding to launch this autumn, with other products to follow in spring/summer 2011. On the confectionery front, there will be Glee-inspired product lines from Bon Bon Buddies.
