Milan-based Atlantyca Entertainment has licensed its Geronimo Stilton character to Telecom Italia for a nationwide public service campaign created to teach Italy's children how to "sail on the web" or use the Internet safely.

Italy's national Sail Safe Campaign (Navigare Sicuri) launched in October 2009 in association with Telecom Italia, Save the Children and Fondazione Movimento del Bambino. As part of the program, Atlantyca's Geronimo Stilton has written a new book entitled "The Fabumouse Secrets of the Web" that chronicles his misadventures with the Internet and gives advice to children in the form of 10 rules for safe Internet usage. Telecom is distributing 100,000 copies of the free book at the company's points of sale throughout Italy and online. Posters featuring Geronimo Stilton and his 10 rules will be given out at elementary schools and the character will embark on a national tour that is scheduled to visit a number of Italy's major metropolitan areas. Geronimo Stilton is also prominently featured on Telecom Italia's website, with his own interactive webpage where he shows children and parents how to use the Internet correctly and explains to parents how they can keep their children safe.
