The first four Gap stores are slated to open in late 2010 in Beijing and Shanghai. The shops will feature Gap adult, GapKids and babyGap products, as well as the 1969 premium jeans brand. The retailer's long-term plans include stores in Hong Kong and other major regions. Gap has also partnered with Shanghai Yi Shang Network Information to launch an online shopping site later this year.
To lead the expansion efforts in China, Gap has appointed Redmond Yeung as president, where he will handle business development and real estate strategy, and Lorenzo Moretti as managing director, to focus on store operations, product-to-market activities and infrastructure development.
